THE IMPORTANCE OF MONEY

Money cannot buy you love—
Yet love may fade and drift above
When empty hands can’t rise or move
To build the life you’re dreaming of.

Money cannot buy true friends—
Yet friendship’s warmth so often ends
For those with little to defend,
Who walk alone where no one bends.

Money cannot promise joy—
Yet sorrow waits to well and destroy
Each hope the heart tries to deploy
When struggle clings without alloy.

Money cannot silence hunger’s cry—
Yet hunger’s voice is sharp and high
When pockets echo, dry as sky,
And every meal is a goodbye.

Money cannot keep you from the grave—
Yet life grows weaker, hard to save,
When treatments come with fees so grave
That even breath becomes a slave.

Money cannot open learning’s door—
Yet wisdom hides behind the floor
Of wealth that keeps it from the poor,
Whose dreams are halted evermore.

Honor is not bought with gold—
Yet nameless walk the ones who hold
No riches in their grasping fold—
Their stories left unheard, untold.

You cannot rule the world with pay—
Yet without money’s lighted way,
You fight yourself from day to day,
For even hope feels far away.
